Pixar in Tennispalatsi

Visited the 20 Years of Pixar exhibit in Tennispalatsi on sunday. And heartily recommend the experience for all who have enjoyed the company’s movies.
It’s not a big exhibit - unless you fall into the trap of listening to interviews and watching all the movie samples available. The first floor has a gentle introduction into the company, some short movies from the early days, and a truly wondrous Toy Story 2-themed zoetrope.
The upper floor is packed with movie-specific sections - most of which contain concept art, sketches and models. The centerpiece of the floor is a bona fide beanbag-chair equipped movie theatre that loops sketches and visual trials of the movies.
The Pixar-show is accompanied with a brief cross-section of the finnish animation scene. Had to cut exploration of that rather short on account of the museum closing, but the trailer for Chrzu’s upcoming Curse of the Remote Island piqued my interest a lot.
And I think that dropping by the gift shop one of these days to pick up a couple of postcards and a book on Pixar’s history thus far is pretty much mandatory.
