Patchwork?

Platypus, one of my very favorite animals has had its genome decoded.
And to no great surprise to anyone, the results are not exactly those of a typical mammal. After all, not many of our family tree members possess poisonous spurs or lay eggs.
Still haven’t seen a live platypus, the ones in Sydney Aquarium were quite thoroughly hidden in their large enclosure.
