First steps towards definitive retrogaming encyclopaedia

Hiive Books has started a series of books in which the first generation home computers best games are described in lavish detail. The book on Spectrum is already sold out, and the one on Commodore 64 looks interesting to say the least.

Sadly, neither is a complete survey of the ludography of the era, but just the cream of the crop, the top 200 games per book. But it’s a fine start as a book, but a wiki (or equivalent collaborative effort) would be a better alternative to gather the data across all the games.

(And to pick nits, the package image used in the book for the classic Deadline is the one published by Commodore itself, and not the lavish case folder as originally produced by Infocom.)
