Black Dossier available in Finland

Alan Moore’s much-troubled Black Dossier, the 2.5th episode of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen has finally been released in Europe. That is, if a high pile of the albums in Akateeminen kirjakauppa on saturday is any reliable indication thereof.

While I was a big fan of the two original collections, this album never struck a chord. Parts of it are nothing short of great (a pleasant Jeeves and Wooster meet Cthulhu-novella), but others are plain terrible (I never summoned the energy to finish the Kerouac-esque bit).

I didn’t check whether it was missing anything from the US version, but considering the rampant intertextuality of the material, the potential copyright violations could have necessitated major edits. Then again, considering Alan Moore’s relationship with editors, this would probably been as futile an effort as can be.

I have it now. Huzzah! Thanks for the tip.

Also, I got my own copy of Wire S5. Expect a full dissection in the fourth issue of Libero later this year.

    Great.

Will you dissect and disassemble the entire series, or just the last season?

  3. Otto Sinisalo:

It’ll be an overview of the series as a whole. The article will be too short, in any case - I could fill the entire magazine tacking the beast that is The Best TV-Series Since the Invention of the Radio.

  4. lavonardo:

Indeed, the sixty episodes would provide ample material for a lot more.

Give me a ping when the magazine is out.
