#114: A smooth road

#114: A Smooth RoadThis week’s photo thursday challenge is about a smooth road, a snippet of text from a finnish schlager from the seventies.

My take on the subject is the attached image, of a crossroads in Sweetwater Julian, California – a town where a single signpost is enough to note everything and everybody.

EDIT 9.1.2009: Corrected the name of the town.

Hyvä varjo merkeistä. Tuolla tiellä ei luulisi eksyvänsä.

Sweetwater? Am I wrong but was not the town called Julian? Interesting town though: they had a shop where you can buy Finnish “Lapin leuku” and a coffee place with the best apple pie & cider in the world. And I think we did get lost that day due not having a map with us and not wanting to drive back the same road.

You’re probably right… On account of having driven there and not just sat half asleep on the front seat. The lack of a map and a *very* sparse road network did add some serious miles to the trip.

Sweetwater was the name of the State Park from which my previous pictures were.

And the town was indeed great – the home-made cider served from a glass shaped like a boot accompanied by a huge chunk of apple pie was a definite high point on the south California experience.

Hauskat opasteet, mutta autosta katsoen taitaa mennä vähän mututuntuman mukaan…sileää tietä eteenpäin. Katsotaan mihin Onnetar johtaa. :)
