This week’s photo friday challenge is cold.
Instead of hunting for ice cream pictures, I take the easy way out - with a wintry landscape. Obviously this is not of this season, we didn’t officially have a termic winter in Helsinki at all.
The picture is of a frozen stream in Pitäjänmäki […]

This week’s photo friday challenge is all about fragile.
My take is one of the most fragile environments of the world - a coral reef. Threatened by pollution, global warming and other acts of man, these largest animal collections will have a hard time making it through the next decades.
The image […]

This week’s photo friday challenge is far from home.
The pictured spot (the southern edge of Singapore) is not the furthest away I’ve been, but probably the best signposted location.

Considering that it’s ten minutes to midnight on thursday, it’s high time to participate in this week’s photo friday challenge. The topic is found objects.
The attached photograph has a beautiful white seashell, deposited by the tides on a log high on a beach.

This week’s photo friday challenge is what is that?
My take on the subject is the attached image, a peppermint stick insect (Megacrania batesii), a rare critter from Queensland that just happened to be around on a rainforest walkabout in Cape Tribulation. The coloring has not been altered, the animal is shockingly turquoise in color, with […]

This week’s photo friday challenge is machine.
My take on the subject is the attached image, of a piece of kinetic art by Arthur Ganson. Sadly, the still image does no great justice to the twitching and rotating sculptures, but only conveys a hint on how complex these artifacts are. The photograph […]

This week’s photo friday challenge is mountain.
My take on the subject is the image below, a scene from rain-misted Blue Mountains near Sydney. While the region seems to be nothing more than gently billowing rainforest, the looks are deceptive. The lush green covers steep cliffs and mean-looking outcrops.
